After giving birth to a beautiful little girl, I suffered 2 miscarriages as well as went through 5 failed IVF cycles.
Soon to find out that I had a grotesque tumor engulfing my ovary. Biopsies confirmed Ovarian Cancer and this is where my journey to fighting cancer began.
Cancer can be treated if detected early enough and sometimes treatment can be costly or delayed, especially in the public sector.
Therefore, it is very important to me to support anyone fighting the Big C.
It's not MY fight, it's OUR fight and together we can make a profound difference in every woman's life facing this.
Project Flamingo
Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women during their lifetime. Unfortunately, for patients in the Public Health Sector, long waiting periods for adequate treatment significantly reduce their chances of surviving this disease.
Project Flamingo's aim is to relieve pressure on the most vulnerable stages of a patient’s cancer journey by providing these timely surgeries at five selected Public Hospitals in the Western and Eastern Cape regions.
By using the time of volunteer surgeons & anesthetists, and existing hospital infrastructure over weekends, they effectively decrease waiting times and make a tangible impact on the lives of the patients and their communities.
A percentage of the funds we receive for the t-shirts go to this amazing project.
